Gdy Jezus zmartwychwstały ukazał się uczniom nad jeziorem Genezaret, Piotr, obróciwszy się, zobaczył idącego za sobą ucznia, którego miłował Jezus, a który to w czasie uczty spoczywał na Jego piersi i powiedział: «Panie, któż jest ten, który Cię zdradzi?»
Gdy więc go Piotr ujrzał, rzekł do Jezusa: «Panie, a co z tym będzie?»
Odpowiedział mu Jezus: «Jeżeli chcę, aby pozostał, aż przyjdę, to cóż tobie do tego? Ty pójdź za Mną!»
Rozeszła się wśród braci wieść, że uczeń ów nie umrze. Ale Jezus nie powiedział mu, że nie umrze, lecz: «Jeśli Ja chcę, aby pozostał, aż przyjdę, to cóż tobie do tego?»
Ten właśnie uczeń daje świadectwo o tych sprawach, i on je opisał. A wiemy, że świadectwo jego jest prawdziwe.
Jest ponadto wiele innych rzeczy, których Jezus dokonał, a które gdyby je szczegółowo opisać, to sądzę, że cały świat nie pomieściłby ksiąg, jakie trzeba by napisać.

Our gospel story begins at birth through the times in life we have, like the apostles, ‘met the Lord’. Maybe today you can give thanks to the Lord for the ways you have found him close in life: in times good and bad. In the journal of a life is the love and the action of God in a life. And in the Journal of God, our names are written ‘in the book of life’.

We can note the incidents, relationships, bad times and good in our lives where Jesus was close, active, saving us, calling us and challenging us into discipleship. Can you note where and when your life with Jesus begin? Like John, we don’t know where it will end. Where is Jesus now writing his gospel in your life so that others will know is love, his call and his identity? Some good pointers for prayer!
- Even as John concludes his gospel, he is aware that the words of Jesus may be misunderstood. I pray that I may be preserved from any misinterpretation of Jesus' words as I take this time in prayer, asking God to speak directly to my heart.
- John had a sense that the works of Jesus were many, and that numerous books might be written. Before God, I consider the works of Jesus in my life, giving thanks for the hidden and evident ways in which I have come to life. I think of myself as a ‘gospel', a testament to God's loving presence and action.

ActiveDefault- Nawet gdy Jan kończy swoją ewangelię, jest świadomy tego, że słowa Jezusa mogą być źle zrozumiane. Modlę się o to, abym w tej chwili modlitwy został uchroniony od błędnej interpretacji słów Jezusa, gdy proszę Boga, aby mówił prosto do mojego serca.
- Jan miał poczucie, że dzieła Jezusa były liczne, że wiele książek można by było napisać na ich temat. ActiveDefault- „Ucznia, którego Jezus miłował”. To jest niesamowity opis każdego z nas. Czy kiedykolwiek myślałem o sobie jako o „tym, którego Jezus miłował”, albo być może mam doświadczenie, w którym widzę siebie jako szczególnie umiłowanego przez Jezusa?
- Kochać Jezusa i być kochanym przez Jezusa to znaczy podążać za Nim.
- Umiłowany uczeń ma za zadanie świadczyć o tym, co Pan uczynił w jego życiu. Jestem wezwany do świadczenia o tym, jak „wielkie rzeczy mi Pan uczynił”. „Gdyż wielkie rzeczy uczynił mi Wszechmocny” (Magnificat, Łk 1,49).
